The Ohio Allergy and Immunology Society was founded to unite Ohio's Allergy and Immunology clinicians for fellowship, advocacy, research, and education.

Brian Schroer, MD

Current Vice President 2023-2025 | Future President

Brian Schroer, MD is on staff in the Center for Pediatric Allergy and Immunology at Cleveland Clinic Children’s Hospital. He did my fellowship training in Allergy / Immunology at Cleveland Clinic finishing in 2010, residency training in Internal Medicine/Pediatrics at The Ohio State University / Nationwide Children’s hospital, medical school training at the University of South Florida College of Medicine and graduated from Duke University. After fellowship Brian joined Cleveland Clinic and saw kids and adults while focusing his clinical practice on food allergy and eosinophilic esophagitis. Outside of clinic Brian has focused on facilitating the use of relationship centered communication skills in medical students, and with staff, did a medical education fellowship and used those skills with pediatric residents and AI fellows. For 3 years he was the Department Chair of Allergy at Akron Children’s hospital before returning to Cleveland Clinic in 2022. Brian now works in the Cleveland Clinic Food Allergy Center of Excellence and am the Co-Director of the Eosinophilic Esophagitis Center. Brian has served as a reviewer and Editorial Board Member of JACI In Practice, as a member and now Vice Chair of the AAAAI Continuing Certification and Professional Education Committee, as a member on the AAAAI Eosinophilic Gastrointestinal Disorders Committee, on the ACAAI CME Committee, and is a founding board member and the current president of the Ohio Allergy and Immunology Society. He is proud to be a member of the incredible group of allergists who practice in Ohio and hopes to continue to build relationships between allergists and support our community through fellowship, advocacy, research and education.

Rekha Raveendran, MD

Board of Director Member

Rekha Raveendran, MD earned her medical degree from NEOMED and completed her internal medicine residency at the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. She then went on to specialize in Allergy / Immunology and completed her fellowship at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. Her clinical interests include practice management, nasal polyps, rhinitis, as well and immunotherapy. She helped create curriculum for coding and billing and continues to provide these lectures to The Ohio State University allergy fellowship. She is also an active member of both the AAAAI and ACAAAI and helped with the Immunotherapy Mixing Course with the ACAAI. She is a proud member of the Ohio Allergy and Immunology Society and hopes to continue to provide opportunities for education, networking, and developing relationships with our allergy colleagues across the region.

Yashu Dhamijyu, MD

Board of Director Member

Dr. Yashu Dhamija is an associate professor in the Department of Immunology, Rheumatology, and Allergy at the University of Cincinnati. He completed his fellowship in Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology in 2022 and joined faculty as an attending with a focus on building the internal UC Health Allergy division. He has introduced a new service line for patients of the Greater Cincinnati area struggling with allergy or immunodeficiencies. As a result, Dr. Dhamija emerged as the regional provider for transition-to-adult care for patients with immunodeficiency at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Since starting the practice, he has delabeled over 50 antibiotic allergies among many more non-antibiotic allergies. He is pursuing a Master’s in Clinical and Translational Research to bolster the future of research in the department. He was awarded a first-place prize for an intramural poster presentation at the Department of Internal Medicine 11th Annual Research Symposium on his case series of patients with post-prandial diarrhea responding favorably to treatment with oral antihistamines. He currently has a randomized cross-over trial recruiting patients to investigate the response in patients with irritable bowel syndrome when treated with oral antihistamines. Through the OAIS, Dr. Dhamija is hoping to improve collaboration in research focused on Allergy and Immunology and access to care for patients across the state of Ohio. He hopes that the activities of the OAIS will help support trainees across the state to network and foster their academic interests in the world of Allergy.

Margaret Kuder, MD

Current Vice President 2023-2025 | Future President

Margaret Kuder, MD is a staff member in the Allergy and Clinical Immunology Department at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. She completed her fellowship training in Allergy / Immunology at the Cleveland Clinic. She has worked at Cleveland Clinic since this time, primarily at the Independence Family Health Center. She practices general Allergy and Clinical Immunology, with a focus on drug allergy. She is involved in clinical research projects investigating best practices to implement penicillin allergy testing in a variety of settings. She is a member of the AAAAI’s Adverse Reactions to Drugs, Biologicals, and Latex Committee. She is the current treasurer of the Ohio Allergy and Immunology Society. She enjoys collaborating with Allergists outside of her own institution to promote continued education and collegiality. She is excited to see how OAIS continues to grow, and further supports the Ohio Allergy and Immunology community with research, education and advocacy initiatives.

Kate Ruda Wessell, DO

Board of Director Member

Kathryn (Kate) Ruda Wessell is a full-time physician in the specialty of Allergy / Immunology as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Pediatric Allergy Immunology / Rheumatology at University Hospitals Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio. She has been employed in this role since 2016. She graduated medical school from Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine (OUCOM) in 2013, Pediatric Residency from UH Rainbow Babies and Children’s in 2013, and Fellowship in Allergy Immunology from UH Richmond Medical Center in 2015. Her clinical interests include all related topics of Allergy Immunology but in particular; difficult to control Atopic Dermatitis has been an expanding area of her clinical practice. She has a deep commitment to practicing evidence-based medicine and a particular interest in providing coordinated multi-disciplinary care for medically complex patients. She is the center director of the Jeffrey Modell Immunodeficiency Center at Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital. She is the clinical rotation director for the division of allergy and immunology for the pediatric residency program at Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital. She is adjunct faculty for the allergy immunology fellowship training program for Case Western Reserve University/University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center Program. She has a particular professional interest in Residency and Fellowship education training, and coaching on career advancement and fulfillment. In addition to AAAAI and ACAAI memberships, she is the past-president of the Cleveland Allergy Society as well as a member of the Board of Directors for the Ohio Allergy and Immunology Society. Through these affiliations, she has had opportunity to build collegial relationships with other practicing AI physicians. She is proud to be a part of the OAIS board, where she can align her passions with a focus on research, education, and advocacy in allergy and immunology with fellow Ohioans. Outside of her professional life, she is a busy mother to three young children: Isabella, Jacob and Anna. She enjoys spending time with her children and husband boating on Lake Erie and supporting all Cleveland professional sports teams.

Maggie Redmond, MD

Immediate Past President | Board of Director Member

Margaret (Maggie) Redmond, MD is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Allergy and Immunology at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, OH. She did her Allergy and Immunology fellowship and Pediatrics residency training at The Ohio State University/Nationwide Children’s Hospital, medical school training at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine and graduated from The Ohio State University. Dr. Redmond has a broad clinical interest including food allergy, drug allergy, and primary immune deficiency. She has an active interest in education, including pre-hospital providers, medical students, resident, and fellows. She is a member of the AAAAI Clinical Rotation Curriculum Committee and ITE Committee. She is the Co-Chair of the NCH Pediatric Asthma Conference and founding board member and first president of the Ohio Allergy and Immunology Society. Dr. Redmond is so glad to be a member of OAIS to get the opportunity to deepen friendships and create a thriving group built on collegial striving to continue the pursuit of knowledge and provide the best evidence-based care for our patients in Ohio.

Justin Greiwe, MD

Dr. Justin Greiwe has been with Advanced Allergy Services (formerly Bernstein Allergy Group) in Cincinnati since 2014. He earned his medical degree from the University of Toledo College, completed his pediatric residency at Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital in Cleveland, and went on to specialize in Allergy & Immunology through fellowship training at the Cleveland Clinic. Dr. Greiwe is also a principal investigator at Bernstein Clinical Research Center and serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Cincinnati. With over 50 publications in peer-reviewed journals and book chapters, he has contributed to research on food allergy, asthma, atopic dermatitis, drug allergy, immune deficiency, chronic urticaria, rhinitis, EIB, and telemedicine. In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Greiwe is on the editorial board of the Journal of Food Allergy, is a past president of the Cincinnati Allergy & Asthma Society, and is a founding board member of the Ohio Allergy & Immunology Society. Dr. Greiwe is passionate about fostering a close-knit community of allergists across Ohio and surrounding states, hoping to inspire collaboration and the sharing of knowledge through advocacy, research, and education. His vision is to see Ohio’s allergists come together as a united force to advance the field and improve patient care across the region.

Qualifications for membership

Active Members

Eligibility for Active membership shall require:

  • (1) Board Certification by the American Board of Allergy and Immunology or Board Certification from the American Osteopathic Association in Pediatric and Adult Allergy and Immunology. Fellowship in the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology or the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology is desirable but not required.

  • Persons with special qualifications such as a strong interest in allergy and immunology through academic positions, research or leadership roles consistent with the goals of OAIS and therefore deemed desirable by the Board of Directors and approved by a majority vote of the membership may be considered for active membership

Affiliate Members

Eligibility for Affiliate membership shall require one or more of the following qualifications:

  • (1) Nurses and other practitioners (LVNs, LPNs, RNs, PAs, APNPs etc.) involved in the practice of Allergy and Immunology under the direct supervision of an Active OAIS member physician.

  • (2) Technical or administrative personnel who participate in the practice of Allergy and Immunology by research activities or support to an Active OAIS member physician.

Associate Members

Eligibility for Associate membership shall require one or more of the following qualifications:

  • (1) Physicians in training programs or who have completed training programs approved by the ACGME in allergy and immunology.

  • (2) Physicians in related fields of practice considered to have special interest in allergy and immunology and positions, practice and/or contributions consistent with the goals of OAIS.

  • (3) Immunologists, Bacteriologists, Mycologists, medical students, and the like who do not possess a degree of Doctor of Medicine, but have special interest in allergy and immunology and positions, practice and/or contributions consistent with the goals of OAIS.
